What is this white stuff falling from the sky? The weather has been so nice that I forgot to send my own kids with their coats this morning. Our motto is "No Child Left Inside" and we want to ensure the entire school is prepared during inclement weather. Please make sure to not follow my lead, watch the weather and send your children prepared as we do go outside when it snows.
You will find a bright yellow name tag in your child's Thursday folder. Please fold this length wise and place on your dashboard during afternoon carpool. This will allow us to call students faster, by knowing who is inside the car! Thank you so much for your help with this!
*2017-2017 Apple Awards are open! The Douglas County Educational Foundation encourages you to nominate an Educator(s), School Employee(s) and/or Administrator(s) that you believe deserves to be an Apple Award Representative. As you make your nomination, please consider your nominee's performance beyond his/her area of expertise and how they advance the four (4) priorities of Douglas County School District’s Strategic Plan: Safety, Choice, World Class Education, and System Performance. *Share your voice! The Community Survey is coming soon!
The Douglas County School District is preparing to launch the community survey. Corona Insights is finishing the first phase of the Community Survey project. They have taken the feedback and ideas provided by parents, employees and other community members during the six Town Hall meetings and have used it to design survey questions. The survey will be distributed in mid-November via email. Please be on the look out to give your feedback!
*Thank you to our wonderful music teacher, art teacher and all our amazing students. Larkspur Lyrics did a fantastic job performing on Tuesday night and the music and art show was super fun. I am so proud of everyone and their amazing work.
*I enjoyed our annual Turkey Lunch! It is always so much fun seeing students with their parents as they enjoy a life long tradition in DCSD. Thank you so much for all your support!
The cold and flu season is on its way and we want to remind you and your students to cover your cough or sneeze using a tissue or your sleeve. We can also minimize the spreading of germs by washing our hands often with soap and water. Getting an annual flu vaccination is another way to protect yourself and your family from the flu. By working together, we can make this winter more about concentration and learning and less about upper respiratory infections and influenza.
Please remember supporting the health and wellness of all our students, staff and community begins with prevention. We have students with compromised immune systems which makes fighting germs and illness difficult. Your support in monitoring for illness is greatly appreciated. Determination for sending students home is made using Guidelines for Determining Student Attendance, developed by Douglas County School District Health Services using guidelines from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment. (https://www.dcsdk12.org/health-and-wellness/attendance-policy).
