Getting back into the swing of things after break can be hard and we understand morning and after school struggles. This week was especially hard getting back on TRACK after the Thanksgiving holiday. Just this week alone we had 45 Tardies and our office staff stayed late every day for late pick up. Starting on Monday December 5th, if you are unable to pick up your child(ren) between 4:00 and 4:20 they will be sent to Champions before and after school care, where you will pay a drop in fee. In an earlier blog post, I discussed the importance of children getting to school on time and how we would not be late for our flight. I would encourage everyone to think about the disruption on the entire building if our students are not in their seats and ready to learn between 9:00 and 9:05. The flight has already taken off and now everyone needs to stop, regroup and start flying again. Thank you for helping us ensure we give our student the tools to fly!
Sadly our school seems to be a target and continues to be a target for littering inappropriate items and disrespecting school grounds. I have spoken with DCSD, DCPD and the town about this. I would encourage all of you to keep an eye out as well. Our wonderful custodian and myself along with teachers are sweeping campus grounds before school and this issue was also discussed at the town meeting. At the meeting a lieutenant from the DC Sheriff’ s Office, who was in attendance, stated he would put the deputies serving the Larkspur area on alert. A member of the audience also mentioned he has removed similar type items from the area around the ball field at the Town Park. Effective immediately Town maintenance staff will begin daily and weekend checks of the Park and our wonderful school. They will also put word out to area residents about the problem and would be happy to host a meeting to see if parents and residents would be interested in forming a neighborhood watch. Thank you for your support with keeping our school grounds safe!
OPEN ENROLLMENT!! Know of anyone who is moving to DC or even the springs? DCSD open enrollment is now here. I am holding coffee talks and taking new families on Tours every Friday morning at 9:30. I am so excited to meet new families and show them why we are the best school in DCSD.
NAME TAG displayed in your car window? If you do not display your name tag during pickup, please do so. Knowing who is inside the car should allow us to get carpool running faster. Thank you for helping with this. We would respectfully request your name be displayed on the passenger side's visor.
**Larkspur Tree lighting is tomorrow at 4:00. I hope to see you there!
What is happening this coming week?
*Mon. Dec. 5th SAC 4:30-5:30
*Tues Dec. 6th- Dec. 7th Bobcat Kids Holiday Shop in our Science Lab
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss any burning questions you have, volunteer in our school or just stop by to say hi! Thank you for all you do to make LES the most amazing school in DCSD. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
