Solar Eclipse Viewing- August 21, 2017
The eclipse in Larkspur, Colorado will not be a total eclipse, but will be a 90+% partial eclipse for the following timings:
*C1 (Partial eclipse begins) 10:20 AM
*Mid (Middle of the eclipse- the maximum amount of Sun is covered)- 11:47 AM
*C4 (Partial eclipse ends)- 1:14 PM
LES Specific Viewing Plans:
*The most advantageous spot to view the eclipse at LES is on our field and black top.
*Each class that is participating in the viewing will receive a pair of viewing glasses. These glasses are very dark, so dark that they effectively leave the wearer sightless. They are ESSENTIAL AND REQUIRED for viewing the eclipse. THEY SHOULD NOT BE WORN AT ANY OTHER TIME!
*Viewing will be kept to no more than 3 minutes of continuous viewing. Teachers have been advised to view for 30 seconds and taking a 10 second break to ensure the safest viewing experience.
*Students are invited to keep their viewing glasses as a memento of the 2017 Great American Eclipse
Fun Fact: The next coast-to-coast American eclipse will be august 12, 2045. Larkspur will be in the path of the total eclipse at 10:39 AM
Thank you, Lorelei LaFortune, for all your hard work and dedication to LES and this special event!

*Field Day for grades 1st-6th will be help September 15th.

Thank you for all your hard work with carpool. A few reminders and updates...
-Please use the crosswalk when escorting your child(ren) to the building
-Please let your child(ren) out curb side only. There will not always be a staff member to open your door for you.
-Please have students exit cars from the crosswalk to the end of the sidewalk to keep the line moving.
-Please remember we have ONE Line in the AM and TWO line in the PM
-Please don't forget to display your last name on your dashboard. This will help teachers on duty get you the correct kiddos in a timely fashion.
-Please DO NOT use your cell phone while in car line
-If you are parking along Silverheels, please walk on the inside of the fenced area or along the side by the field and school.
-Please stop and wait for the yellow buses when walking on the inside of the fence, this is the bus loop and they may not see you.
-Please do not arrive before 3:55. When everyone gets to LES at the same time it causes a huge back up.
Carpool will run when the bell rings at 4:00 to 4:15. If you could please stagger your time, we will be able to get the buses in and we will not have a huge traffic jam on all the roads. We will give carpool one more week and, if the congestion doesn't lessen, we will split up into two different times to ensure we are running a quick and safe carpool. Thank you again for your support and hard work. I am confident we will get this running smoothly soon.
