I can't believe we are approaching the last week in January!
On Monday we will start collecting donations for the school in Texas, please see the following letter from Amy Calhoun.
Dear Bobcat Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed your break and are ready for another super semester at our “little school in the woods.”
We have a great opportunity to “pay it forward” to some students in the Houston area. As you know, many people were devastated by the hurricane and flooding. Shortly afterwards, I came across an organization called “Adopt a Classroom” and put our school name in to be matched with another school.
Larkspur has been paired with Burnett Elementary. Jocelyn Chavez is a teacher at Burnett Elementary, a Title 1 school. She educates 14 second grade, bilingual students everyday and has communicated with me that most of them have lost everything. Students are in great need of jackets to stay warm during the winter months. We are sure the Larkspur community can do that and more!!
Each classroom will adopt a student in Ms. Chavez’s class and begin raising funds. We will purchase a jacket/sweater for each student and the rest will go into a gift card for the classroom supplies.
We didn’t want to burden families during the holiday season with another commitment and have waited until the New Year to start this. We would like to get what we need for each class by February 15th. Please be on alert for more information from your child’s teacher.
Thanks for all you do to make our school such a special place for kids. If you have any further questions contact Amy Calhoun at email@example.com
