Boot Update

We are busy planning the 21st Annual Boot Scootin' Boogie and still need your help.  We are seeking event sponsors and, of course, donations.  Please either send in cash donations to your classroom to help with their live auction baskets.  Or you can place new items or unused gift cards in the silent auction bin in the lobby (or leave them with an office staff member) for us to include in the silent auction.  Please fill out a silent auction form so we're sure to get you a donation receipt.

Email LES PTO at larkspurpto@gmail.com for information on anything Boot related or talk to any PTO board member.  Thank you in advance for your help making this fundraiser a huge success!

Online Bidding NOW OPEN

Thomas S. Tucker, Ph.D.

Welcome Dr. Thomas Tucker as DCSD's new Superintendent. Dr. Tucker will begin working in the district July 1, 2018. He is currently the Superintendent of Princeton City Schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has 29 years of experience serving in the Kansas and Ohio public school systems. He has held the positions of classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of secondary curriculum and superintendent. He has been twice named National Superintendent of the Year (American Association of School Administrators in 2016, and National Alliance of Black School Educators in 2013).

Under the strong instructional leadership of Dr. Tucker, the Princeton City School District has made significant advancements in pre-K through 12th grade without additional costs incurred by the District. Dr. Tucker is well-versed in both school financing and business partnerships and is often called upon by local and state lawmakers to consult regarding funding issues. In November 2012, his efforts were successful in passing an incremental levy and no-new taxes $40 million bond issue. Dr. Tucker became the first superintendent in Ohio to attempt and pass an incremental levy and bond issue on a single ballot. In fact, as superintendent, Dr. Tucker has never failed an operating levy or bond issue.

Dr. Tucker was the first African-American upper level administrator in a major central Ohio district. In his first two superintendencies, he was the first African-American superintendent in the Worthington Ohio City School District and the first in a multi-district county (Licking County, Ohio). Dr. Tucker is passionate about ensuring that the needs of the underprivileged and those with special needs are met.

Dr. Tucker earned his Ph.D. and Master’s from The Ohio State University and his Bachelor’s degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is an active member of many educational associations, civic organizations, and committees, including the Buckeye Association of School Administrators and the National Alliance of Black School Educators. He served on the State of Ohio Grade Six Reading Content Advisory Committee and the Northwest Counseling Services Advisory Board.
