Larkspur News!

September 9, 2019

Good afternoon Larkspur Families,

As you may have heard, our friends at Meadow View Elementary are dealing with some extensive damage to their school building following a break in a water line in their crawl space. They will be unable to hold classes at their building for quite some time.

Our Motto states, “ Here at Larkspur We Have Heart!”  Today, Larkspur Elementary is very excited to be able to live up to our motto as we extend a helping hand to Meadow View’s Affective Needs Students and Staff.

Starting today, Monday, September, 9, 2019, Larkspur Elementary School will be welcoming with open hearts and open arms our new friends from Meadow View.  We’re here to support them in any way we can. These ten new students will be with us until their building is repaired- which may take several months.

Please join us as we welcome our new friends from Meadow View!

As always, my door is open should you have any questions.

Safety Update

Standard Response Protocol Information

School Safety

A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by school and district administration and staff

To find out more about Standard Response Protocol (SRP), please watch the video below and follow this link to the I Love You Guys Foundation.

Safe2Tell Colorado

Safe2Tell Colorado provides students and adults in Colorado schools and communities an increased ability to both prevent and report violence, by making safe, ANONYMOUS reports. The 24-hour bystander tipline, staffed by professionals from the Colorado State Patrol, is available to students, parents, and communities to report any kind of concerns to their safety or the safety of others. The Safe2Tell Colorado tipline is completely anonymous and does not have caller ID. The focus of Safe2Tell is early intervention and prevention.

Larkspur’s Fun Run 2019-2020

Parents and Families—this fundraiser is the Larkspur’s Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicked off with a Pep Rally on Wednesday, September 4th.  Families are gathering pledges for every lap their student runs (30-35 laps) at the Fun Run, Friday afternoon, September 13th, after Field Day activities. This year our goal is to raise $15,000 for installation of our projects in every classroom, tech lab desktops, chromebooks and i-pads for every classroom, and we need your help! We’ve asked the experts at Booster to power our fundraiser to make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK: WILD WEST! Booster’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world. Families are invited to come out and cheer on their student!  Thank you so much for your support!

Why did we choose to partner with Boosterthon vs. hosting the Fun Run ourselves? The fun run fundraiser through Boosterthon's on-line platform allows us to easily reach beyond the Larkspur community for pledges for this special project without having to ask even more from our parents and community members. The Larkspur community and parents already are so generous and have given so much to Larkspur Elementary. As of today we have 22 states and 2 countries donating to our little school. In addition with the use of Boosterthon's exciting incentives it makes it even more fun for the kids to run!

Boosterthon keeps 35% of donations for their processing fees, isn't that a lot?

All fundraising companies retain a percentage of donations to cover operating costs etc...For example Castle View High School uses fundraising companies, such as Snap! Raise to help raise money for their sports/clubs.  The split for most of these groups is 50/50.

Is there a way to keep a greater percentage of the donations?

Boosterthon offers a few different plans with varying percentage splits. After conferring with our PTO board last spring we chose Option 2 (see below).

Boosterthon has four different fundraising plans:

1.  Boosterthon Live Model - 50/50 Boosterthon brings in their own employees and are in

control of the entire fundraising.. (Two years' ago model)

2.  Boosterthon Event Model - 65/35 we are in control of running the fundraiser.

Right now, we are at the 65 percent profit. (This year's model)

          • Prizes

          • Program Consultant

          • Pledge Software Platform

3.  Boosterthon You Model - 70-85 percent profit

          • Program Consultant

          • Pledge Software Platform

4.  Boosterthon Pro Model - up to 90 percent profit

          • Pledge Software Platform

Thank You!
